Books, songs, and a plan that keeps delivering.
Dolly Parton’s work spans songwriting, country and pop performance, acting, and business. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum traces her music to her Appalachian childhood and describes how songs such as Coat of Many Colors drew on her own life.
She launched the Imagination Library in Sevier County, Tennessee, in 1995. The program provides books for children from birth to age five regardless of family income. Local partners helped it grow beyond its original community. That is a specific piece of her work we can learn from, without claiming to speak for her.
